The Miami Dolphins’ 2019 season is upon us! The Dolphins will kick off their schedule this weekend at Hard Rock Stadium against the Baltimore Ravens — and things get tougher before they get easier. It wasn’t more than a few weeks ago where it seemed this Dolphins team could feasibly string together a few wins and and challenge their 2019 win total of 7.
But nothing will be easy this season after the departure of OT Laremy Tunsil last weekend and the Dolphins’ decision to part way with several prominent veterans, including WR Kenny Stills, LB Kiko Alonso and others.
Week 1: vs. Baltimore Ravens
Week 2: vs. New England Patriots
Week 3: vs. Dallas Cowboys
Week 4: vs Los Angeles Chargers
Week 5: Bye Week
The Baltimore Ravens have revamped their offense. In a good way. The Miami Dolphins have revamped their team. In a bad way. The Ravens and Dolphins meet on Sunday (10 a.m. PT/1 p.m. ET, CBS, DirecTV) in the Week 1 regular season opener for both teams.
The Ravens (10-6 in 2018) have restructured their offense to take advantage of the skills of second-year quarterback Lamar Jackson. Jackson is known more for his running (695 yards, five touchdowns) than passing (1,395 yards, eight touchdowns, four interceptions) while starting in eight games including the playoffs. The hope is Jackson has improved his passing during a full offseason, training camp and preseason work.
The Dolphins (7-9 in 2018) claim they aren’t tanking the 2019 season, but it sure looks as if they are. They traded veteran left tackle Laremy Tunsil and wide receiver Kenny Stills to the Houston Texans last week. First-year coach Brian Flores named journeyman Ryan Fitzpatrick as their starting quarterback.
